Purolite Anion Ion Exchange Water Softening Resin
PUROLITE STRONG BASE ANION (SBA) ION EXCHANGE RESINS
Purolite offers a broad range of Strong Base Anion (SBA) ion exchange resins based on a polystyrenic or polyacrylic matrix with either gel or macro-porous bead structures. Purolite anion ion exchange resin products include Type 1 and Type 2, as well as mixed base and ion selective functionality. Purolite Anion softener resins are supplied in a wide range of grades and ionic forms to optimize water purification performance. Purolites full range of strong base anion ion exchange products complements their extensive range of weak base anion resins.
Water purification and demineralisation applications for strong base anion ion exchange resins are vast, well beyond mainstream industrial water purification systems. Purolite is constantly expanding their product lines through Research and Development and have created various anion ion exchange resin products specifically tailored to meet customer needs. Just an example of this is Purolites line of Shallow Shell Technology (SST) this incorporates a comprehensive range of strong base anion ion exchange and water softening products and offers higher regeneration efficiency in many water treatment applications.
PUROLITE ANION RESIN POLYSTYRENIC OR POLYACRYLIC MATRIX
In many water purification applications the ion exchange resin matrix is important. Polystyrenic ion exchange resins are more rigid and more hydrophobic compared to polyacrylic based softener resins. In some cases, they also have higher thermal stability. These factors should be considered when selecting the proper strong base anion softening resin since they can affect performance in water filtration and purification systems.
ANION RESIN GEL OR MACROPOROUS STRUCTURE
In numerous water treatment cases, Purolite has produced equivalent strong base anion resin products in both gel and macroporous bead structures. Generally, gel ion exchange water softening resins have a higher breaking weight and offer higher activity levels (working capacity). Due to the resins pores, macroporous resins have better resistance to osmotic shock attrition, better access to the active sites, and greater resistance to fouling due to the large surface area. The macroporous ion exchange resin products are also lighter and so differences in density, where separation from another resin is required, can also be important and optimized.
