Description
Purolite Water Softening Resin Cation
What is water softening or ion exchange?
Water softening resins are used in the removal of calcium, magnesium, potassium and certain other ions that create hard water.
Ion exchange is a widely used water treatment method whereby one or more problematic dissolved mineral salt ions are filtered from water by exchanging with a less objectionable substance depending on the water purification application. Ion exchange can only be achieved by exchanging with ions of the same positive or negative electrical charge.
Softened water used less detergents as the detergents are not wasted by bonding with calcium / magnesium ions. Softened water also doesn’t leave a scale residue thus prolonging the lifespan of appliances, internal plumbing and equipment downstream.
Purolite Strong Acid Gel Cation Softener Resin
Purolite is a reputable long standing world leading manufacturer of various Strong Acid Cation (SAC) ion exchange water softening resins in each of their factories coupled with a strong distribution network of warehouse locations that are positioned perfectly to serve the Africa, Americas, European, Middle East and Asia Pacific markets.
As with most types of Purolite water softener and ion exchange resin products, their strong acid cation ion exchange resins are available in many size and grading’s including a uniform particle size. Purolite softener resins are available with many types of certification approvals such as NSF Certified, Kosher and Halal.
Purolite Cation Softener Resin Product Features
Macro-porous polystyrenic softener resins have pore structures that are significantly more robust than polystyrenic softening resins that allow macro-porous resins to be used as catalysts as well as enable the use in non-polar applications unsuitable for gel type resins. This results in water softener resins that are more osmotically and oxidatively stable and less susceptible to mechanical breakdown.
In general, strong acid cation macro-porous ion exchange water softening resins often provide higher selectivity than their gel counterparts.
