Deionization (DI) Ion Exchange Resin

Mixed Bed Di Ion Exchange Resin for ultrapure water. The mixed bed ion exchange softener and colour changing Resin. DI resin comprises of both cation and anion ion exchange water softening resins combined in one bag. The DI Resins Colour changes as the resin is exhausted and requires regeneration or DI Ion-Exchange Resin filter cartridge requires replacing.

DI Mix Bed Ion-Exchange and Softener resin is a self-indicating mixed bed Resin. It is a mix of nuclear grade hydrogen and hydroxide form various ion exchange resins. The anion resin is a type 1 strong base gel ion exchange resin with an indicator dye that changes from blue to colourless as the resin exhausts. The cation softener resin component is a strong acid sulfonated polystyrene gel type cation exchange resin. During exhaustion, as the indicator dye changes colour, the appearance of the mixed bed changes from a green colour to a violet colour.

There are numerous manufacturing processes that require ultra-pure water for additives, rinsing and testing purposes various processes require demineralized water for a high quality finished product. However, they may require multi-mega ohm resistivity water, DI Ion Exchange Resin is designed to provide demineralized water with a resistivity in excess of 10 mega ohm.

Di Water Softening Resin is specially intended for use in cartridge filter applications with clear housings, these systems are typically designed without meters and rely on the changing colour of the mixed bed ion exchange resin to indicate the end of its service life. In standard operation, there is a safety line at the exit end of the cartridge, and when the colour change reaches that level, the di resin cartridge is considered exhausted and exchanged for a new cartridge. The actual water quality output depends on the manner in which the di resin cartridge is configured. A constant supply of high purity water can be obtained by using two cartridges in series.
