Active Clear Glass, an advanced water filter media
Active Clear Glass filter media has far better filtration capabilities over silica sand filter media and is highly efficient. Active Clear glass water filter media saves on backwashing and relevant water, energy and chemical treatment associated costs. The glass filter media grains have an angular to sub-angular particle shape and bound silica content provides a 30% improvement in turbidity removal over silica sand.
Active clear glass filter media generally removes finer particles from water than the equivalent grade of silica sand, glass filter media has a non porous composition meaning it’s less likely to ”clump” or channel unlike other filter media. Glass filter media has superior permeability, backwashes take less time, saving water/sewer charges, and energy and chemical treatment costs. Active Glass filter media keeps cleaner. It’s less susceptible to bio-fouling as, unlike silica sand Glass media’s particles have a smooth surface area, so bacteria can’t get trapped in any cracks or flaws, which translates to less remedial action and again less chemical treatment to kill pollutants. Active Clear Glass filter media requires less material, It’s less dense than sand, requiring 10% less media to fill the equivalent filter. Active Clear Glass filter media doesn’t degrade, therefore has a longer service life and may not need changing even when the filters are due for refurbishment.

Active Clear Glass Filter Media comes in 25 kg bags and has two grades (course 1.1mm and fine 0.45mm).
