What is a Reverse Osmosis Machine and how does it work?
A Reverse Osmosis Machine, commonly referred to as RO water purification, is a process whereby raw water is demineralized or deionized by pumping water under pressure through a semipermeable Reverse Osmosis Membrane.
The Reverse Osmosis water purification process uses a membrane separation technology, in which feed water (borehole water, surface water & sea water) is split into two different streams. The permeate (Fresh RO Water) is pushed through the membrane into the permeate column in the centre of the Reverse Osmosis Membrane tube, the concentrate water containing the brine will be rejected to the waste outlet of the reverse osmosis system. A key requirement for the RO Water Treatment application to work effectively are high pressures which are obtained by diaphragm pumps, multi-stage centrifugal pumps and high pressure piston pumps for seawater desalination reverse osmosis applications.
What is a Stainless Steel Reverse Osmosis Membrane Housing?
A Stainless Steel RO Membrane Pressure Vessel or known as a Membrane Element Housing is a pressure vessel used for loading Reverse Osmosis (RO) Membrane Elements in a Reverse Osmosis Water Purification System. The two most commonly used types of RO Membrane Pressure Vessels used in RO water treatment applications are, FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) and SS (Stainless Steel).
What is a Reverse Osmosis Membrane?
A Reverse Osmosis Membrane System is a water purification technology that uses a semipermeable Reverse Osmosis membrane to remove dissolved salts, metal ions and micro-organisms from water. In the reverse osmosis process, a pressure is applied to overcome osmotic pressure, a colligative property that is driven by chemical potential, a thermodynamic parameter.
Vontron ULP Reverse Osmosis Membrane Element
ULP (Ultra Low Pressure) aromatic polyamide Reverse Osmosis Membrane Element developed by Vontron Membrane Technology, for the purification of surface and underground water. The ULP RO Membranes operating pressure is 25% less that the LP (Low Pressure) RO Membrane Element, with a rejection rate of up to 99.5%. The Vontron ULP Reverse Osmosis Elements reduce the costs of affiliated pumps, piping systems, pressure vessels and related equipment, thus lowering the running cost of the Reverse Osmosis Plant.
VONTRON Ultra Low Pressure (ULP) Series RO Membranes are suitable for the treatment of surface water, underground water and municipal water with a TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) of below 2000ppm.
The main applications that the ULP Vontron RO Membranes are prepared bottled water, drinking water systems, boiler feed water, pharmaceuticals, industrial manufacturing, food & beverage industries.
